Mission Statement
The “Save the Strays”: Cheryl Lynn Bartley Memorial Fund, established in 2009, is a tribute to the memory of our beloved friend Cheryl Lynn Bartley. Distributions will be used to aid in the safe and gentle capture, spay/neuter, and rehabilitation of stray animals in our community, which currently encompasses Umatilla County and the surrounding areas.
Services provided for these animals will include, but are not limited to: spay/neuter, veterinary care, rehabilitation, and re-homing or safe release of the stray animals back into their home environment*. Cheryl spent her life dedicated to aiding animals in our area, and we'd like to continue the tradition in her honor.
All pet owners can share in the benefit of treating strays in their area. Through our commitment we greatly diminish the possibility of stray and/or feral animals infecting our pets with illnesses they may be carrying at the time of contact.
- Our mission relies solely on the support of the community, whether it be by monetary donations, tangible donations, or volunteer time -
*Our NO KILL policy states that ideally each animal (barring extreme, untreatable medical conditions) will be placed into a new and loving home once they’ve been spayed/neutered and rehabilitated. However, for instances where the animal is feral and unable to be safely placed, this animal will be spayed/neutered, rehabilitated and then released back into its home environment, granted this environment is safe and can reasonably supply the animal’s basic needs. All other scenarios will be taken in a case-by-case basis.
