Mission Statement
Roberta’s Gift is a non-profit organization founded by Meredith and Cory Rothman in memory of Meredith’s mother. Roberta’s Gift is a foundation that provides help and support to single mothers experiencing challenging health issues. The movement is designed to assist women emotionally, financially and physically in their day-to-day lives, while providing a stable and loving environment for their children.

What the Fund is About
The fund strives to assist single mothers while they undergo short or long term treatment for their illnesses, and support can be provided in multiple forms, such as:

• Childcare (daycare or long term) and mentorship
• Support groups for women and children
• Transportation services
• Assistance with medical bills
• Disability services
• Food and grocer assistance

 

About Roberta Mangel Roth

Roberta Mangel Roth was a beautiful woman and mother with a loving, kind and gentle spirit.  She was an incredibly selfless person, providing unconditional support, help and guidance to her friends and family and importantly, her children.  She found gratification in helping others which was portrayed in both her personal and professional life.  Her warm heart and gentle soul was uplifting and appreciated by so many.

When Roberta was diagnosed with lung cancer, she was a single mother working as a special education teacher, trying to make ends meet, and focusing on raising her children in a positive, healthy and loving environment.  She struggled to work, care and provide for her children, all  while addressing her illness which eventually took her life in 1997.  Roberta had a wonderful support team called, “The Chain Gang” who all wore special bracelets made by Roberta’s father.  This support team helped her with her treatments and management of her illness while ensuring that her children were taken care of and received the support and love they needed to continue with their everyday lives.  Roberta’s children continue to have a special bond with The Chain Gang and together they celebrate and honor in her life.

Not a day goes by in which I do not think about my mother,
wish she was here and thank her in my thoughts for everything
she gave me and the woman she has helped me to become. 
Roberta brought so much joy to this world - she was a gift to all around her

Roberta's Gift is a division of CHARITYSMITH: National Society of Memorial Funds, a 501(c)3 public charity dedicated to the creation and governing of memorial endeavors. All donations are tax deductible in accordance with federal tax law. Receipts for tax purposes are sent via US Mail within two weeks of donation.
