KATHY COOK MEMORIAL FUND - Fund Emeritus
The Kathy Cook Memorial Fund was established to honor her memory and her passion for plants, flowers, gardening and being one with nature. We'd like this fund to be twofold – the first will honor her memory with a place where we can plant a tree, place a bench and display garden art. The second will offer financial support to an individual with a love for plants and flowers wishing to further themselves in horticulture, landscape design or a related field. She would love to see our earth and lives enriched with beauty.

About Kathy Cook
Kathy was a fun-loving, compassionate, generous and loyal daughter, Mom, Grandma and friend. She had a great sense of humor and contagious smile. She loved gardening, music, food and spending time with loved ones. Her goal for retirement was to move to a small town where she'd have a house with a beautiful garden and do what she loved best -- surround herself with plants and flowers. She wanted to work in a nursery where she could nurture this passion and feel alive.
Kathy was born on April 23, 1951 in Wenatchee, WA to Jack and Florence Schuman. Her brother Rick was born shortly thereafter and they had a close relationship. She was mostly raised in Wenatchee, but spent her middle school years in Mt. Vernon, WA. She moved back to Wenatchee where she graduated from high school and married Larry Cook. She was widowed at the age of 19 and had a baby a few months later. She moved to Seattle with her daughter in 1974 where she spent the next 33 years. She never remarried and raised her daughter on her own. She was a dedicated and hard-working woman who spent the last 24 years as a paralegal at the Chapter 13 Trustee Office.
Her sudden and tragic passing leaves many heartbroken with the loss of such a special lady. We miss her dearly and cherish the moments we had with her. Her memory fills our hearts with joy. Kathy is survived by her father Jack Schuman, daughter Lori Koidahl (son-in-law Jon), grandsons Riley and Dylan and countless friends and colleagues whose lives she touched. She is preceded in death by her husband Larry Cook, brother Rick Schuman and mother Florence Schuman.
Who Loves A Garden
Who loves a garden
Finds within her soul
Life's whole;
She hears the anthem of the soil
While integrates toil;
And sees beyond her little sphere
The waving fronds of heaven, clear.
