EMERSON JULIETTE GRAHAM MEMORIAL FUND

Emerson Juliette Graham, born August 14, 2008, passed away peacefully in her parents' arms on August 16, 2008. Only two days old, Emerson will live in our hearts for eternity. Her soul fills our broken hearts with joy and peace and love.

A few days after Emerson passed, the family was sitting in the backyard enjoying a late summer evening. As the sun began setting and a calmness in the air comforted us, a Great Horned Owl flew over the roof, between us, barely skimming the fence and landed upon the roof of a neighbor. She looked down upon us, strikingly observant. Frances exclaimed, "Hi Emerson," knowing her spirit was among us. The Great Horned Owl is believed to be the messenger of change and new cycles, such transitions being a fundamental cornerstone of new life.

Emerson’s short time here on Earth has forced us to approach life in a different manner. Everyday moments are more special with each passing day – a cool breeze, a sky filled with stars, green grass, a drop of rain. Overwhelmed by the question, "Why?" we must ask ourselves instead, "What is best in your life?" This leaves us with another question, "Should we live today as if it is our last, or should we live as if we’ll live for eternity?" We look forward to engaging friends and family in answering these questions as we move forward.

This fund has been established to receive funds in honor and memory of Emerson. Although she will not be able to jump in puddles, sing in the rain, catch a firefly, live her dreams, we hope to honor Emerson and pass this inspiration along to others.

Donations to the Emerson Juliette Graham Memorial Fund will be passed along to organizations that support these unfulfilled dreams, allowing others to seize the moment – Carpe Diem.

Spread your wings and fly away
No one can hold you back now, baby
Follow your heart, it knows the way
So spread your wings and fly now, baby
Fly fly fly...
Do not stand at my grave and weep
Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you wake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die!
