Chastity Turner Memorial Fund – Run For Chastity
On June 24, 2009 Chastity Turner was killed in a drive-by shooting outside of her home. She was nine years old, and a student at JN Thorp Elementary School, getting ready to enter 4th grade. Chastity was an innocent victim of a gang-related shooting, and was the only person killed in the shooting. Three other family members and friends were injured as well. This memorial fund will serve as a way to honor Chastity’s memory, as well as to help prevent other innocent by-standers from being killed in gang-related violence. All funds pledged and donated in Chastity’s memory are to be donated to CeaseFire, a non-profit organization operating in Chicago Illinois, which works to educate youth about violence prevention and conflict resolution.
How Can You Help?
The runner’s profiles below feature runners who have agreed to post their projected mileage on Chastity’s site, and are asking you to donate funds to support and encourage them as they run many road races over the next year’s time. Whether you know a runner below whom you would like to sponsor, or just want to donate to the Chastity Turner Memorial Fund on your own, any donation will be greatly appreciated, and could make a huge difference in another child’s future. You can choose to sponsor a runner and pledge based on their projected mileage, or you can donate an amount that you feel comfortable with. Please pass on this information to any person you may know who might want to become a sponsored runner as well. Thank you in advance for any donations, and for taking the time to consider supporting the Chastity Turner Memorial Fund.
