The Arletta J. Bacon Foundation, established in 2010, is a tribute to the memory of Arletta J. Bacon. She was an educator for over 40 years and devoted her life to helping others in her community through her church, workers auxiliary, and sorority.  Born Arletta Josephine Bacon on June 10, 1917 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, she transitioned to her eternal home on December 16, 2005.  Arletta was a dedicated member of the Virginia Street Baptist Church.  Her church activities included membership in the choir, the Willing Workers Auxiliary, the Adults Progress for Sunday School Class, and the 50 – year Members’ Club.   

After graduating from Attucks High School, Arletta completed her college education at Kentucky State College where she majored in Education.  She taught in the Christian County schools, Highland, Durant Avenue and Pee Dee school systems.  Her passion for education and motivational support was shared with her young nieces and nephews.  Arletta provided financial support and words of encouragement to those who shared her passion for the love of lifelong learning. 

Arletta was a charter member of the Hopkinsville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.  Delta Sigma Theta is a national Greek letter society having over 200, 000 members nationally and internationally. Delta is a public service sorority that promotes high cultural, intellectual, and moral standards among its members and society as a whole. 

The Arletta J. Bacon Foundation will raise donations through organized fundraising efforts. The donated funds will be used to provide educational exploration through field trips, career and financial workshops, and education assistance in support of higher education for teens and young adults.
